Why Professional Matters

I know you’ve done it, something needs to be done at home and you really just did not want to spend the money. I’ll just look on YouTube and figure it out. It doesn’t look that hard so I think I can figure out how to do it. I’ve done that and more times that I like to admit, that YouTube video ended up being a little more complicated than it seems. You’re left with something that’s taken apart and you don’t know how to put it back together or it’s leaning a certain direction and the direction is not up. We’ve all done it. We’ve all tried to do it ourselves and ended up with an even worse problem than before. Now, when we do something at home, we can cover it up to avoid the visitors or those who live with us get used to the poor patch job you did, but when we take it upon ourselves to DIY it when it comes to your hair, now that’s a risky proposition. How we look influences a multitude of business decisions, the way people treat us, and how we feel about ourselves overall. To go to the grocery store and buy a box of color and decide to do it ourselves is one of the riskiest DIY jobs you could ever possibly imagine.

The at home hair color industry is a multi-billion, yes, I said billion, dollar industry. Every grocery store, drug store, and even in convenience stores, you will find boxed hair color. Hair color works in a multitude of different ways from permanent, to semi permanent, to staining. Understand that this is not like painting a wall but this how you are presented to every person you see, every day. I get it, when things are tight, or time is of the essence, it just seems easier to do it yourself but like so many things from plumber, to an electrician, to getting your air condition fixed, do you want it done right and you want it done right the first time, otherwise, it can cost you more and add to your already stressed life. This is why it is important to go to a professional when it comes to any type of hair service.

Professional stylists are licensed, and trained in the art of cutting and multiple chemical services such as hair color, smoothing systems or perms, to name a few. This training teaches them how to cut hair at different angles to fit your face shape, lay a certain way, and give you the style you desire. It also gives them the knowledge of what they’re working with when it comes to creating the color that you want. Did you know that hair color is more complex than simply covering what you have? Hair color works by going into the hair follicle therefore you have to know what color is already there and whether or not you have to remove it or work alongside that current color. Not as simple as it sounds right? I’m hoping to show that the relationship that you will have with your professional stylist is one that will create confidence and power you to look your best, and create a relationship at times will last a lifetime.

In this blog, I’m hoping to show you behind-the-scenes of the greatest industry in the world. I have worked with thousands of hairstylists in my career and they all have one thing in common, they live to make you feel great about yourself. The job of the professional hairstylist is to take you, their pallet, and make you the most beautiful you. When working with a professional, I want to help you to ask the right questions, understand the world that they are coming from, and work together to create the most beautiful version of you.
